Today’s blog is hopefully to inspired you to design a one off pair of shoes for a low cost price! The next three pictures are of the shoes I made yesterday within a couple of hours . . .
I went for silver/clear diamantรฉ on the plastic/rubber tips of the toes.
I chose the colours black, pink purple and blue.
I chose and easy leopard print design for the whole shoe.
So what you need is a pair of white converse style pumps. I got these in Sainbury’s for ยฃ7.50 instead of ยฃ10 because they have 25% off all TU clothing until today.
In the house I had permanent markers I bought in Poundland, these were way cheaper than the Sharpie pens.
I had clear/silver diamantes I bought off eBay.
I also had superglue I got in Poundland, I think it’s a packet of 6 or 8 for a pound and they work ok.
Ok the first thing you want to do is remove the laces.
I then used my pink, blue and purple permanent markers to draw random shapes (trying to have a leopard print theme) all over the shoe.
On the thicker lines of stitching I coloured them with the pink, purple and blue.
This is the other side, the ink does spread out a bit so try not to do the spots too close together.
Now go around all the ‘spots’ on the shoes to highlight them, some with black the whole way round and some partly (as you can see in the picture).
Also add some random dots, triangles and Y like shapes with your black pen in the spaces you have left.
Don’t do too many, you need to stop, look at it and think do I need anymore? You don’t want to do too much.
Now it’s time to apply your diamante, apply superglue to the plastic/rubber bit of your shoe and using either tweezers or something to pick the gems up, like a cocktail stick with a little glue on the tip, apply your diamantes.
Keep applying over the whole area.
Until completed. You might find when it dries the glue has gone a little funny and turned your diamantes frosted. To bring back the shine once dry, coat with a thin layer of clear nail polish and leave to dry.
Simple as that, that is them finished! I hope you like them and are inspired to do your own.
Lots of love
